**About the Role**

At Comfort Works, as a Tech Lead Engineer, you will use your expertise and passion to multiply the overall output of your development team. We will depend on you for a highly scalable and reliable platform as we take on the entire upholstery industry through our global eCommerce platform.

As a technical leader, you’ll lead the technical design, and drive your team’s vision to implementation. You will also largely contribute to creating and fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge as a mentor to other engineers.

You will have an expert skill level in project management, professional development, agile practices, and version control (git). Of course
- you’ll be hands-on in the code and contribute technically as well. You will have experience in deciphering technical documentation for APIs, eCommerce systems, open source projects, etc.

**WHAT YOU'LL DO**:

- During the early stages of a project/program:_
- Conduct technical audits.
- Select every part of the technical stack through a collaborative, transparent, and iterative process.
- Present software architectures and infrastructure recommendations.
- Provide detailed technical recommendations in the format of a Technical Approach Document that outlines the software, platform, and infrastructure recommendations as well as development best practices, coding standards, and security considerations.
- During the design and development phase of these projects/programs:_
- Pair with the project's owner to control the project scope to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of the project.
- Work with DevOps engineers to set up environments, CI/CD, etc.
- Ensure that the proper development workflow and project delivery process are followed (backlog grooming, sprint conformance, code review, etc).
- Work with the QA Engineer to determine the right testing activities (manual, automated, security, load/performance, accessibility, etc).
- Assist and manage the developers in their day-to-day activities while collaborating with UI/UX designers.
- Be involved in internal client + stakeholder meetings (stand-ups, retrospectives, refinements) to provide technical communication and progress updates.
- Throughout the project/program lifecycle:_
- Actively seek out high business value problems to solve, and design technical roadmaps to solve them.
- Identify and pursue impactful projects driven by product direction, user need, and appropriate technological trends.
- Create beautiful and fast code that improves our codebase in meaningful ways.
- Bring context and learnings back to a team from other projects and mentor junior developers through technically challenging decisions.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
**Technical skills**:

- B.S/M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent, 5+ years of software development, 3+ years of experience as a Technical Manager or Team Leader.
- Must-haves: Python, JS, Node.JS / Nice to haves: Vue & CSS.
- Hands-on experience in frontend development, backend development, infrastructure, and e-commerce platforms.
- Extensive experience working with version control systems in a team setting.

**Nice to Have**:

- Experience implementing and architecting solutions in Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and Magento (Adobe).
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Preferred experience with Mar Tech related to e-commerce and remarketing: Google DFP, Facebook Ads, Amazon Advertising, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, AAM, Marketo.
- Prior agency experience is welcome.

**Other Required Skills**:

- A proven track record of success in leading software development teams — **strong technical mentorship is a must.**:

- Able to simplify complex technical concepts for a non-technical audience and explain business goals to a technical team.
- Experience leading development projects - you know Scrum or an alternative project management approach.
- Look at wireframes, designs, or data models, evaluate their complexity and plan the work of the development team (breaking down tasks, creating timelines, and project backlogs).
- Comfortable working with 3rd-party vendors for integration and support.
- Passionate about learning more and excited to collaborate with other team members across UI/UX Design, Visual Design, Product Management & Marketing.
- Actively participate in the evolution of our technologies and technology practices, pitch new technologies that you believe in, and participate in workshops to learn new skills.
