Job Title: School Librarian

Reports To: Principal or Head of School

**Job Summary**:
The school librarian supports student learning by managing the library’s resources and services, promoting a love of reading, and integrating research skills and information literacy into the curriculum. This role combines teaching, information management, and technology support within a collaborative school environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Library Management:
Organize, maintain, and update the school’s library collection, including books, multimedia, and digital resources.

Catalog and classify new materials using established systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal Classification).

Manage the library’s budget, inventory, and acquisition of new resources.

2. Student and Staff Support:
Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning through book recommendations, displays, and reading programs.

Assist students and staff in locating and effectively using academic and personal interest resources.

Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom instruction.

3. Instruction and Curriculum Support:
Teach students how to conduct research, evaluate sources, and use library tools effectively.

Provide lessons on digital literacy, media handling, and information ethics.

Support curriculum development with appropriate learning resources and enrichment tools.

4. Technology Integration:
Provide access to digital tools and support the effective integration of educational technologies.

Maintain the library website or digital catalog system.

Assist students and staff in using academic databases, eBooks, and online learning platforms.

**Required Technical Skills**:
Proficiency in library management systems such as Destiny, Follett, Koha, Libib, etc.

Familiarity with cataloging and classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal System).

Ability to conduct electronic research and use academic search engines and databases.

Experience managing a digital/e-library for student and teacher access.

**Additional Qualifications (preferred)**:
Academic background in Library Science, Education, or Information Management.

Proficiency in English.

Knowledge of digital library systems.

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
