**Responsibilities**:

- Role Purpose:

- The Developer is expected to perform software development activities in a structured, planned and controlled manner, in accordance with established software development methodology.
- **Job Description**:

- Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- development of software programs and systems according to detailed technical specifications using quality processes, tools and methodologies
- development / modification of low level programmes as per project requirement
- generate working code from specifications ; convert requirements and specifications into workable programs
- investigate and solve program problems
- internal walkthrough of design analysis/design documents/design code
- work with business analysts and ensure compliance with policies/business rules
- assist in unit testing, and other related processes and document the test results
- develop system documentation/system manuals
- migrate existing code from one version of the system to another
- update and maintain program and other relevant product documentation
- software version / system configuration control

Key Relationships:
- Business Analyst - for requirements analysis/confirmation
- Project Lead (PL)

Reporting line:
- The Application Developer reports directly to the Deposit Project Lead
- The Application Developer does not have any subordinates

Key Challenges
- The key challenges that the Application Developer is likely to encounter whilst undertaking this role include:
- Coping with a dynamic transformation environment, with changing business requirements
- Development of non-obsolete systems in a rapidly evolving technology environment
- Development of systems within compressed timeframes.
- Alignment of developed systems with the Enterprise Architecture

- Developer with 2-3 years of relevant experience in software building and development and translating these to service specifications and solution definitions.

Skills & Competencies:

- Essential Skills:

- It is essential to exhibit the following skills/abilities:
- Programming/software development/scripting - knowledge COBOL programming. Knowledge in Assembler & IDMS (ADSO) are added advantage.
- Technical specification analysis and development - interpretation of user rules and requirements for developing systems
- Information content authoring
- Data conversion and migration
- System testing - understanding of system testing frameworks that will be applied to the developed systems

- It is desirable (but not essential) to exhibit the following skills/abilities:
- Self Management - should be able to prioritise and manage own time
- Effective Communications skills - should be able to present concepts clearly and concisely both written and verbally
- Decision making, able to work under pressure, assertive and upholds integrity, highly self-motivated, resourceful, result-oriented, able to multitask, initiative, flexible and adaptable to change.
- Relationship management - must be able to manage relationships with other system development stakeholders (e.g. system designers and business users) and provide feedback
