The Safety Health Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment by monitoring health and safety standards and ensuring the workplace complies with regulatory safety requirements. The role includes conducting inspections, providing training, managing safety protocols, and investigating incidents to prevent future risks.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Health & Safety Compliance**:

- Ensure workplace activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Stay updated with local, state, and federal safety regulations to ensure compliance.
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- **Risk Assessment**:

- Identify potential workplace hazards (e.g., chemical, physical, ergonomic risks).
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential dangers.
- Recommend improvements to reduce risks and enhance workplace safety.
- **Safety Inspections & Audits**:

- Perform routine inspections of the workplace to ensure safety standards are met.
- Monitor machinery, equipment, and hazardous materials to ensure safe operation and handling.
- Prepare and submit reports on safety inspections, audits, and findings.
- **Training & Education**:

- Provide safety training for employees to raise awareness of workplace hazards and safe practices.
- Develop training programs related to emergency procedures, first aid, fire safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct safety drills and ensure all staff are familiar with emergency procedures.
- **Incident Reporting & Investigation**:

- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses to identify root causes.
- Prepare incident reports, document findings, and make recommendations to prevent similar incidents.
- Work with management to implement corrective actions based on incident investigations.
- **Emergency Response Planning**:

- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for natural disasters, fires, chemical spills, and other emergencies.
- Ensure that emergency exits, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment are available and functional.
- **Wellness Programs**:

- Promote employee health through wellness programs, offering support for physical and mental health.
- Encourage practices like stress management, proper ergonomics, and healthy lifestyle habits.
- **Record Keeping**:

- Maintain records of safety inspections, accident reports, training sessions, and compliance audits.
- Ensure all records are up-to-date and accessible for legal or regulatory purposes.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Education**: A bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, or a related field is typically required. Some positions may accept certifications or equivalent experience in safety management.
- **Certifications**: Certification in health and safety, such as **NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health)**, **OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)** certification, or similar, is often preferred.
- **Experience**: Previous experience in health and safety management or working in a relevant field (e.g., construction, manufacturing, healthcare) is highly valued.
- **Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, hazard identification, and risk management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for training and advising employees.
- Attention to detail and ability to assess potential risks accurately.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities for developing solutions and recommendations.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.

**Desirable Skills**:

- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Familiarity with health and safety software or reporting tools.
- Knowledge of environmental safety and sustainability practices.

**Working Conditions**:

- Full-time position.
- Work environment can vary based on the industry but may include both office and on-site fieldwork (e.g., construction sites, factories, laboratories).
- Working hours may involve evening or weekend shifts depending on the organization's operations or emergency response needs.

**Job Type**: Permanent

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
