Manual Machinist

As the machinist you are responsible for the work given to you by either the manager or factory supervisor. Broadly the position is to be proficient with manual machines and carry out fabrication of new parts as well as assist with the repair and maintenance of the foundry. Below are specific job qualifications. Manual Machine Operation. As the machinist you will be expected to be able to operate with a high level of professionalism, as the workplace is not just a production facility but also a tool & die the skill but the confidence to ensure his work is completed on time as well as correctly. A them; including but not limited to are the following. 1. 8" Lathe (thread turning, taper turning, etc..) 2. Universal Mill (Manual precision milling) 3. Surface grinder (mould and tool grinding) 4. Ejector Pin cutoff machine (mould construction) 5. Radial arm drill (mould construction and repair) knowledge of CNC machines will also be highly regarded. Machine Maintenance Following the weekly, monthly and annual machine maintenance the machinist is responsible for the upkeep of all the machines apart from the CNC machines, the machinist may also be asked to maintain the CNC machines but the responsibility falls to the head of the machining area. Foundry Repairs and Maintenance The foundry will at times request parts to be made to repair production machinery. The foundry requirements are a priority over work given to the machine shop separately (getting production machines back running is the highest priority) This work may involve manufacturing new parts or repairing existing parts by way of machining or welding. Organization and Cost Efficient Manufacturing The machine shop needs to keep control of all of it's tools and cutters, the responsibility of keeping the parts is with the store room. When possible these cutters shall extend their life span by being re-sharpened, If not possible the broken cutters to be returned to the store for replacement. If the cutters are broken to a point they cannot be returned nor repaired they need to be noted on the production record and new cutters retrieved from the store. If new cutters or tools are required this is to be relayed to the machine shop head for further action. Teamwork level of production & quality possible. This will involve division of labour for specific tasks, scheduling of tasks, etc.. Teamwork is a critical aspect of the machine shop and as such standards in this area are to be kept very high. Overall Cleanliness of Workplace cleaning up of oil, dirt, swarf and any other material discarded in the course of the days work. The machines are expected to be clean at the end of every workday and the when necessary. Education & Character Requirements creativity to overcome problems. We are looking for an experienced user, not a beginner. 2. Must have trade school qualification, marking should be better than halfway. 3. Must have a minimum of 5 years of machining in a workplace environment (not just at trade school) 4. Must have been with his current position for more than 2 years. 5. Must be able to read measuring equipment (micrometer, vernier, etc..) We are an aluminium die casting foundry & CNC machinists located in Klang.
