Job Summary

The _Materials Director_ _will be based in _Bukit Minyak_, Penang._

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:

- Lead and direct sourcing teams in identifying, communicating and implementing sourcing strategies and supply chain management best practice.
- Plan and implement activities related to the timely and cost effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials.
- Work closely with sub-ordinates to ensure global strategies and policies are effectively developed, communicated and implemented driving best practices
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, material control systems and metrics to reduce costs, streamline procedures and implement solutions.
- Establish successful relationships with suppliers on a country, regional or global basis to ensure the availability of materials in the supply chain as scheduled and the maintenance of inventory at minimum acceptable levels.
- Work with the Global Commodity management and strategic supply chain management teams on sourcing strategies including supplier selection, risk analysis and capacity management.
- Coordinate with Finance on matters involving inventory carrying costs and review and plan requirements for acceptable inventory.
- Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
- Regularly interact with executives and major clients which may result in influencing and/or persuading customer negotiations.
- Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.
- Lead the planning team (material planning & production planning) in identifying, communicating and implementing planning strategies and supply chain management best practices.
- Plan and implement activities related to the timely and cost effective in inventory control and planning activities.
- Drive and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule.
- Drive and manage schedule of activities with customer on planning, scheduling, shipping and material acquisition during program start-ups.
- Oversee produces revenue analysis and annual operating (AOP) plan and other forecast reports.
- Conducts special studies, investigations and analyses relating to the introduction of new products or processes to effect cost reduction and yield improvements.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s production control functions including Master Scheduling, Production Planning/Coordination, Shop Scheduling, and Dispatching.
- Develops, implements and approves items such as material requirements, planning systems, work in process tracking, material and labor variance controls and manufacturing performance reporting
- Responsible for planning, reviewing and developing production procedures and personnel.
- Manage a team to interfaces with customers to ensure delivery commitments are met and with subordinates, functional peer group managers and senior management.
- Establish and develops material planning models to ensure proper material planning and optimal inventory positions for customer programs. Utilizes models for determining material planning parameters for components.
- Work with global and segment on planning related activities and initiatives
- Regularly and actively interact with executives and major clients which may result in influencing and/or persuading customer negotiations.
- Implement appropriate HR strategies and actions to recruit and retain a qualified and motivated workforce.

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):

- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Typically requires 12 years experience in materials management. Lean Supply Chain training desired.
- Ability to work with Global Procurement and Manufacturing sites to leverage supply chain, achieve cost reductions through negotiation of localization and vertical integration; to establish time lines. Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions and a complete understanding of the function and those of related businesses. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
