CNC Technician

1. Perform the machining operations, watch for problems in the production process, and check the accuracy of the finished piece against drawings using calibrated measuring tools.

3. Assist in machine maintenance and repair.
4. Inspect for quality in all aspects of different jobs.
5. Clean work areas.
6. Setup and trouble shoot machine operation.
7. Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
8. Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
9. Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
10. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three
- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
11. Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
12. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
