Microsoft 365 (M365) Technical Specialist

The Microsoft 365 Technical Specialist is responsible for the administration, optimisation, and strategic development of the organisation’s Microsoft 365 environment. The role requires deep technical expertise in M365 workloads, a strong understanding of compliance and governance requirements, and the ability to drive adoption and innovation across the business. The specialist will serve as the organisation’s M365 evangelist; promoting best practices, enabling productivity, and ensuring the environment remains secure, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

**Key Responsibilities**

**1. M365 Administration & Optimisation**
- Manage and optimise all M365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, Power Platform, and related workloads.
- Configure and maintain security, compliance, and governance features across the M365 tenant.
- Perform tenant health monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

**2. Compliance, Governance, and Security**
- Implement and maintain compliance controls, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), retention policies, sensitivity labels, and Information Rights Management (IRM).
- Administer audit logs, eDiscovery, and litigation hold processes.
- Ensure alignment with industry regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, PDPA) and internal audit requirements.
- Collaborate with security teams to monitor and remediate threats using Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and related tools.

**3. Operational Excellence**
- Oversee day-to-day operations including user provisioning, licence management, troubleshooting, and service requests.
- Manage change requests, incident resolution, and escalations in line with ITIL best practices.
- Liaise with Microsoft support for escalation and resolution of complex issues.

**4. Technology Evangelism & Adoption**
- Act as the M365 technology advocate, promoting adoption and usage of new features and tools.
- Deliver training sessions, workshops, and internal communications to increase digital literacy.
- Partner with business units to identify use cases that enhance collaboration, automation, and productivity.

**5. Strategic Planning & Roadmap**
- Develop and maintain the organisation’s M365 roadmap aligned to business goals.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging Microsoft technologies and capabilities.
- Provide input into the digital workplace strategy and long-term platform direction.

**6. Documentation & Best Practices**
- Maintain detailed documentation of M365 configurations, policies, and architectural decisions.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, configuration baselines, and governance frameworks.
- Create and maintain best practice guidelines for deployment, security, and adoption.

**7. Continuous Improvement**
- Proactively identify optimisation opportunities and lead improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with Microsoft’s product roadmap, community best practices, and industry trends.
- Conduct periodic health checks and audits of the M365 environment.

**Qualifications & Skills**

**Required**:

- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on administration experience in Microsoft 365 environments.
- Deep understanding of Microsoft 365 workloads, architecture, and integration points.
- Strong knowledge of compliance and governance features in M365.
- Experience with security configurations, including Conditional Access, MFA, and Microsoft Defender.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting.

**Preferred / Nice-to-Have**:

- Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administrator Expert (or equivalent).
- Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) administration.
- Familiarity with hybrid M365 environments and Active Directory/Azure AD sync.
- Experience with large-scale M365 migrations and tenant-to-tenant consolidations.
- Knowledge of API integrations with M365 services.

**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
