Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Agronomist to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our urban farms while providing exceptional customer support to walk-in visitors. This role will involve managing farm operations, ensuring the health and productivity of crops, and interacting with customers, educating them on our farming practices, and addressing their inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:
Farm Operations & Maintenance:
Oversee the daily operations of urban farm facilities, including hydroponics and vertical farming systems.

Monitor crop health, growth rates, and environmental conditions (e.g., pH levels, nutrient levels, humidity).

Conduct regular maintenance of farm systems, including IoT smart farming systems, to ensure optimal farm performance.

Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues related to farming systems and equipment.

Implement and oversee pest and disease management practices (ensuring farms remain pesticide-free).

Work closely with the central nursery to coordinate seedling supply and production schedules.

Manage farm productivity and maintain records on crop yields, production costs, and resource usage.

Customer Service:
Engage and educate walk-in customers and visitors, offering tours of the farm facilities when needed.

Explain the benefits and operations of our smart farming systems, including hydroponics, aquaponics, and IoT technology.

Assist customers with purchasing farm produce and products, addressing inquiries, and providing recommendations.

Provide on-site consultations and guidance for customers interested in setting up their own urban farms.

Community Engagement & Support:
Collaborate with schools, corporate partners, and community groups involved in UFT’s urban farming projects.

Lead workshops and educational sessions on sustainable farming practices, food security, and smart farming technologies.

Support farming initiatives within schools, offering guidance and troubleshooting assistance to student-run farms.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.

2+ years of experience in farm operations, with a focus on hydroponics or vertical farming preferred.

Knowledge of IoT-based smart farming systems and the ability to manage automated farming technologies.

Strong understanding of plant biology, crop management, and pest control strategies (preferably without pesticides).

Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in farming operations.

Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and engage with diverse groups of people.

Passion for sustainability, food security, and empowering communities through urban farming.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain detailed farm records.

Preferred Skills:
Experience working with aquaponics systems.

Prior experience in customer service or community outreach.
