Cd Technical Manager

As a Technical Manager, you'll lead a team of formulators, collaborating across departments to align priorities with broader business goals. Your team comprises Technical Team Leaders, Chemists, and Technicians, all under your effective management. Your role involves crafting and executing action plans in line with the company's overall strategy, managing a project portfolio, and prioritizing tasks to emphasize value creation through cost and complexity reduction. You'll need a deep understanding of customer needs and competitors' products, and you may lead cross-functional projects to expedite scalability. Effective communication, adaptability, and accountability for product quality are paramount, with a focus on seeking optimal solutions from various sources. Staying current with formulation trends is vital, and you'll mentor and coach your team to foster their development and expertise. You will report to the Sr Technical Manager and will work on-site at Petaling Jaya. **Main Responsibilities** - Set objectives and review performance to ensure all team members are fully engaged in delivering the technical programme. Identify career development needs and set a training and development plan for each team member. - Contribute to the development of the overall technical plan through working with key functions such as Sales/Marketing and Production to set agreed priorities and objectives. - Lead, plan and prioritise a programme of work for the team to ensure that key innovation, value creation, product and process improvement objectives are fully delivered. - Develop and maintain products to agreed levels of quality performance, regularly benchmarked against key competitors and in full compliance with Product Stewardship policies. - Provide Technical support to Sales/Marketing, Purchasing and Supply Chain. **Qualifications** - Graduate with Honours Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline. - 8-10 years’ work experience in a technical role at a relevant company within the chemical or coatings industry. - Experience of working with other functions, managing people and leading teams. - Best practice in formulation science along with a thorough understanding of paint manufacturing and production processes. - Detailed knowledge of raw material suppliers and their technologies. - Strongly market connected with a detailed knowledge of both applicators and end-users. - Good commercial awareness including, branding, finance, channels to market etc. - Good understanding of business processes in other functions especially Sales/Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain. - Detailed knowledge of EHS, Product Stewardship and regulatory processes/compliance. - See separate detailed skills matrix. - Leadership Competencies (refer to appendix) - Organisational Awareness, Initiative, Teamwork, Influence & Leadership, Customer Orientation. - Participation in customer visits and line trials within home country location, or occasionally elsewhere within the region depending on technology base/market segment/customer type supported. **About us**: **PPG: WE PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY THE WORLD** **The PPG Way** Every single day at PPG: **We partner with customers to create mutual value.** **We are "One PPG" to the world.** **We trust our people every day, in every way.** **We make it happen.** **We run it like we own it.** **We do better today than yesterday - everyday.** Benefits will be discussed with you by your recruiter during the hiring process.
