Job Summary:
The Sous Chef is the second-in-command in the kitchen, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. The role involves overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, and supervising kitchen staff. The Sous Chef plays a crucial part in menu planning, inventory control, and maintaining kitchen hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations:
Assist the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations.
Ensure food preparation and presentation meet the restaurant’s standards.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including cooks and other culinary workers.
Oversee food production to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
Menu Planning:
Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and update menus.
Create new dishes and recipes, considering seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and standards.
Staff Supervision and Training:
Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Schedule staff shifts and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Inventory and Cost Control:
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
Maintain cost control measures to minimize waste and manage food costs.
Conduct regular inventory checks and manage stock rotation.
Health and Safety:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Implement and enforce kitchen safety protocols.
Quality Control:
Taste and inspect dishes before they are served to ensure quality.
Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functional.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless service.
Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff regarding menu changes and specials.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
**Job Type**: Contract
Pay: RM3,599.00 - RM3,600.00 per month
