Baker

Responsibilities:

- **Prepare Daily Baked Goods**

Responsible for preparing and baking a variety of bread, pastries, muffins, and other bakery items according to the daily school menu and production schedule.
- **Maintain Quality and Freshness**

Ensure all baked products are of high quality, fresh, and appealing for students and staff, following school nutrition and hygiene standards.
- **Follow Menu and Recipes**

Prepare bakery items according to approved recipes, portion sizes, and nutritional requirements provided by the canteen management or nutritionist.
- **Ensure Food Safety and Hygiene**

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the baking area, equipment, and utensils at all times in compliance with school food safety policies (HACCP standards, if applicable).
- **Inventory and Stock Management**

Monitor stock levels of baking ingredients, report shortages, and assist in receiving and proper storage of supplies following the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
- **Support Meal Service Operations**

Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure baked items are ready on time for breakfast, recess, and lunch service, and assist with other kitchen duties when required.
- **Continuous Improvement and Teamwork**

Work collaboratively with the canteen team to improve product variety, reduce waste, and contribute to a positive and efficient kitchen environment.

Requirements:

- Minimum SPM or equivalent. Certificate or Diploma in Baking, Pastry, or Culinary Arts is an advantage.
- At least **1-2 years of experience** as a baker, preferably in a school canteen, café, or similar kitchen environment.
- Good knowledge of baking techniques, food safety, and hygiene practices. Able to follow recipes accurately and maintain product consistency.
- Responsible, punctual, and detail-oriented. Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fit to perform baking tasks, including standing for long hours and handling baking equipment safely.
- Willing to follow the school’s operational schedule, maintain cleanliness, and comply with food safety standards.
