**1. PROFESSIONAL: Patient Care & Supervision of Nursing Services.**
- To oversee the clinical standards of nursing practices and care of patients in the wards through hands on training with the nurses.
- To assist learners in the assessment, planning, providing, evaluating nursing care practices in tandem with the Nursing Managers/ Associate Charge Nurses in charge of wards.
- To ensure nurses are well versed in the documentation process in the Policies & Procedures through constant training & monitoring.
- To be aware of the medico-legal aspects of nursing practices and to highlight on the importance of these areas in the supervision, teaching and training of nurses.
- To liaise with other departments in the hospital as & when necessary in the coordination of any necessary activities relating to patients’ care and treatment.
**2. TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT**
- To act as a resource person on update in the clinical development of nursing trends and to provide a staff development program for the nurses and to monitor the progress.
- To ensure that the Nursing Orientation & the preceptorship program is conducted to all newly joined nurses of the hospital including trainee nurses.
- To attend and to ensure all staff attend the mandatory C.P.R, Safety and Health lectures and to obtain the CPD points as required by the Nursing Board for the renewal of Annual Practicing Certificates.
- To assist the Nursing Managers/Associate Charge Nurses in the departmental training sessions and be actively involved in the continuing nursing education activities and Q.I.A studies.
- To consult & discuss with the Nursing Managers/Associate Charge Nurses on the nurses’ weaknesses in the clinical areas and to address these problems through monitoring of these nursing practices.
- To develop/coordinate core education to address specific patient needs and nursing care.
- To adjust contents and teaching strategies appropriate to learner needs.
- To develop evidence-based educational materials.
- To deliver competency based programs for nursing staff for improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.
- To write Policies & Procedures as & when necessary after consultation with the Nursing Managers/Associate Charge Nurses, staff and appropriate personnel.
- To conduct/give lectures/arrange seminars/workshops as & when necessary.
- To ensure training on communication skills are carried out for all nurses.
- To evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs.
**3*.**ADMINSTRATION*
- To report directly to the Deputy Director of Nursing/ Director of Nursing in daily reporting of the nurses’ clinical care outcome.
- To report any problems affecting nurses’ disciplines appropriately to the respective Nursing Managers/Associate Charge Nurses in charge of wards.
- To attend the Infection Control Link Nurses’ meetings and to adhere to the general P&P especially on Infection Control policies and practices.
- To participate in ward meetings or any other meetings as designated by the Deputy Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing.
- To set goal for continuing Nursing Education activities yearly.
- To provide an evaluation report to the Nursing managers/ Associate Charge Nurses in Charge of wards on the progress of the supervision & training of the nurses especially those who required constant attention.
- To submit a monthly report of the continuous nursing education activities to Deputy Director of Nursing / Director of Nursing.
- To discuss with the Deputy Director of Nursing/ Director of Nursing on any new strategies or programs for the nurses before implementation.
- To cover the duties of the Nursing Coordinator and be on-call when necessary.
**4. OTHER DUTIES**
- To participate in activities/projects/forums carried out in wards/hospital.
- To be familiar and work in line with the computerized Hospital Information System.
- To undertake any other relevant duties as specified by Deputy Director of Nursing/Director of Nursing.
