Main Purpose of the Role

The Deputy Head, Facilities Management & Operations holds accountability in overseeing the overall operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability of The Waterfront Shoppes. This role provides strategic direction and leadership to the M&E and Building Services & Landscape teams to ensure the mall operates smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day mall operations, ensuring smooth coordination between M&E, building, and landscape services.
  • Drive preventive and corrective maintenance programs to achieve optimal facility performance and safety.
  • Monitor service providers for maintenance, cleaning, security, landscaping, pest control, and waste management to ensure quality, timeliness, and cost efficiency.
  • Review maintenance plans, reports, and operational documentation for compliance and performance standards.
  • Implement operational improvements and coordinate responses to breakdowns or emergencies to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory and safety regulations, including TNB, DOSH, JKKP, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements.
  • Oversee inspections, audits, and certification renewals for fire safety, lifts, and electrical systems.
  • Maintain and update SOPs to align with legal and environmental standards.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture and implement risk mitigation measures across all operational areas.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for safety or compliance issues, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor Degree in Building Management, Estate Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in retail mall management, property management, or commercial real estate, with at least 3 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong technical knowledge in M&E systems, building maintenance, and regulatory compliance (TNB, DOSH, JKKP, Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
  • Proven experience in managing multiple service providers and ensuring cost-effective, high-quality service delivery.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, building standards, and preventive maintenance practices.
