About the role

The Engineer with REM Type 1 practicing certificate is responsible for applying engineering principles and energy management expertise to optimize electrical energy use within the facility. This role involves coordinating energy audits, analyzing utilities and facility systems, implementing energy-saving initiatives, and ensuring compliance with energy regulations.

Job scopes :

  1. Co-ordinate detailed energy audits and analyze energy consumption patterns.
  2. Design, develop, and implement energy-efficient solutions for utilities and facility systems.
  3. Monitor and optimize energy performance of equipment and facility systems.
  4. Support the development and execution of energy management plans.
  5. Ensure compliance with energy regulations and standards.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support work functions.
  7. Prepare technical reports, energy usage analyses, and documentation for regulatory bodies.
  8. Lead or assist in energy-related projects such as equipment upgrades and new installations.
  9. Provide training and technical support on energy conservation practices.
  10. Stay current with emerging energy management technologies and industry best practices.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the HOD.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
  • Registered Energy Manager (REM) Type 1
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Facilities Engineer or in a similar role within the healthcare industry is preferred
  • Strong engineering knowledge of building and MEP systems - HVAC, medical gases, electrical and plumbing
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
