Job Title:
Database & Azure Administration

Location:
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)

Role expectation

•
Monitoring & First-Level Support:
Monitor infrastructure components (OS, databases, Azure services) and respond to alerts promptly.

•
Database Administration:
Perform routine checks and assist with Database administration.

•
Azure Administration Support:
Handle basic Azure tasks such as resource monitoring, user access management, and assist in deployments.

•
Database Support:
Perform initial checks on database health, backups, and connectivity; escalate complex issues to L2/L3.

•
Security & Compliance:
Support vulnerability scanning activities and apply basic remediation steps as instructed.

•
Incident Handling:
Log incidents, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalate high-severity issues to senior teams.

•
Migration Assistance:
Provide support during migration activities by following documented procedures.

•
Automation Exposure:
Learn and assist in automation tasks using Azure CLI and basic scripting.

•
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of incidents, changes, and operational activities.

•
Flexibility:
Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including nights and weekends for patching and critical incidents.

•
License Tracking:
Assist in maintaining license inventory under supervision.

Good-to-Have

•
ITIL Process Support:
Assist in implementing and following ITIL processes such as Incident, Change, and Problem Management under guidance.

•
Incident Handling:
Log incidents, perform initial checks on Azure resources and databases, and escalate issues to senior engineers when required.

•
Technical Exposure:
Gain hands-on experience in Azure administration and database basics (SQL/DB2 preferred) while learning OS fundamentals.

•
Troubleshooting:
Perform basic troubleshooting for database connectivity, backup status, and Azure resource alerts with team support.

•
Infrastructure Services:
Support routine tasks for Azure services and database maintenance to ensure smooth operations.

•
Communication & Coordination:
Collaborate with internal teams and vendors for issue resolution and updates.

•
Cloud Knowledge:
Focus on Azure administration tasks such as resource monitoring, user access, and assist in deployments; learn database administration fundamentals.

Security Basics:
Assist in applying basic security hardening for Azure and database environments.
