About the role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer (Electrical) to join our team at Macdonald & Company Limited' in Johor, Malaysia. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for providing strategic, high-quality, and cost-effective electrical engineering services to support the company's projects and initiatives.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical systems and infrastructure for a variety of projects
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve electrical-related issues and optimise system performance
  • Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes and regulations
  • Oversee the work of junior electrical engineers and technicians, providing mentorship and training
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's electrical engineering processes and practices

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with a strong background in project management and system design
  • Proven track record of leading the delivery of complex electrical engineering projects, preferably in the industrial or infrastructure sectors
  • Excellent technical knowledge and understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and automation technologies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical information into actionable plans
  • Proficient in the use of electrical engineering software and tools, such as CAD, simulation, and analysis software
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent professional certification
