Key responsibilities:

Minimum Wage Policy and Reporting:

● Integrate quantitative and qualitative findings to develop the comprehensive annual Minimum Wage Order Report.

● Conduct top-down quantitative analysis of national wage data, employment statistics and key economic indicators to model policy impacts.

● Facilitate bottom-up qualitative research by assisting in stakeholder consultations, public engagement sessions and industry focus group.

● Analysing the industry-specific research to identify prevailing trends and challenges related to compensation, benefits and labour needs.

GIG Economy Labour Research

● Assist in literature revies on global best practices, academic studies and regulatory frameworks concerning the gig economy.

● Engage directly with the gig economy platforms, worker associations and industry leaders to gather the critical insights and validate the research findings.

● Write and contribute to influential reports and policy briefs on the gig worker landscape adhering to established research templates and quality standards.

Data Management and Analysis

● Manage the collection, cleaning and analysis of primary and secondary wage data from various sources to ensure data integrity and accuracy.

● Monitor and report on the latest developments, trends and statistical releases related to national and international wage structures.

Inter-Agency Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

● Represent the Ministry in inter-agency meetings, government and public forums to discuss and contribute to labour policy development.

● Collaborate with other ministries and government agencies by providing expert analysis and data driven input for ad-hoc policy research request.

Ad-Hoc Research & Strategic Support

● Provide high-level analytical support for ad-hoc research projects and urgent policy inquiries as directed by senior leadership.

● Contribute intellectual capital and research expertise to various cross-functional projects within the Ministry as required.

Competencies:

● A strong educational foundation in Applied Economics, Statistics or a closely related field.

● Demonstrated proficiency in quantitative analysis, statistical modelling and interpreting complex datasets to derive actionable insights.

● Expertise in using the statistical software such as STATA, SPSS, R or similar tools for advanced forecasting and data analysis.

● Meticulous and precise, with a commitment to ensuring the highest level of accuracy in data handling and reporting

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse stakeholders

● Exceptional organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Requirements:

● More than 3 years of working experience, ideally in analytical or labour research position

● Preferably Degree in Economics / Statistics/ Labour Law or related field and research experience
