Key Responsibilities & Job Scope
1. Content Strategy, Creation & Curation (Malaysia-Focused)
- Develop, write, and schedule a high volume of engaging content (in English and Bahasa Malaysia) for platforms dominant in Malaysia, especially Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn. Knowledge of X (Twitter), YouTube, and WhatsApp Business is a plus.
- Create visually appealing and platform-optimized assets (graphics, short-form videos, Reels) using tools like Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Brainstorm and maintain a content calendar that aligns with Malaysian festivals (Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali), national holidays, and local trending topics.
- Ensure all content is culturally sensitive, relevant, and resonates with the multi-ethnic Malaysian audience.
2. Community Management & Customer Engagement
- Act as the primary voice of the brand, managing all daily interactions (comments, Direct Messages, mentions) in a timely and professional manner.
- Proactively engage with the community, building relationships with followers, influencers, and brand advocates.
- Handle customer inquiries and feedback, providing basic customer support and escalating complex issues to the relevant team (e.g., Sales, Customer Service).
- Monitor brand mentions and reviews in both English and Bahasa Malaysia across social platforms.
3. Social Media Strategy & Campaign Execution
- Assist in executing the local social media strategy to support business objectives like brand awareness, lead generation, website traffic, and sales.
- Plan and manage paid social media advertising campaigns with modest budgets on Meta Ads Manager and TikTok Ads Manager, targeting specific Malaysian demographics and interests.
- Collaborate with local micro-influencers and content creators to amplify brand reach and credibility.
4. Analytics, Reporting & Optimization
- Track and analyze key performance metrics (engagement rate, reach, impressions, follower growth, click-through rate, conversion) using platform insights and tools like Meta Business Suite or Google Analytics.
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports in English for management, translating data into actionable insights and recommendations for the Malaysian market.
- Use data to understand what content works best for the local audience and optimize future strategies accordingly.
5. Platform & Trend Management
- Keep the company's social media profiles updated and optimized with relevant information.
- Stay ahead of the latest social media trends, algorithm changes, and new features, especially those popular in Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian region.
- Research competitors' social media activities within the Malaysian landscape.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements:
- Experience: 1-2 years of hands-on experience managing social media for a brand or agency, preferably in Malaysia.
- Platform Expertise: Proven experience with Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Experience with LinkedIn or X is advantageous.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia. The ability to craft compelling copy and engage naturally in both languages is critical. Knowledge of other local languages or dialects is a bonus.
- Content Creation Skills: Proficiency with content creation tools like Canva and CapCut. Basic knowledge of photo/video editing is highly valued.
- Cultural Awareness: A strong understanding of Malaysian culture, social norms, trends, and sensibilities.
- Analytical Skills: Basic ability to interpret social media metrics and draw meaningful conclusions.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:
- Experience with social media scheduling and listening tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprinklr).
- Hands-on experience with Meta Ads Manager and/or TikTok Ads Manager.
- Experience in influencer outreach and management.
- Basic knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics.
- Photography or videography skills.
