1. Teaching and Learning
Deliver engaging lessons that build essential English language skills — listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Prepare creative and well-structured lesson plans in line with IISSA's English scope and sequence.
- Integrate Islamic perspectives, values, and global relevance into language learning.
- Use task-based, communicative, and experiential approaches to enhance fluency and confidence.
- Foster curiosity and love for reading through storytelling, role-play, and drama.
- Differentiate instruction to cater for diverse learner abilities.
- Reflect and adapt teaching strategies to maximise student engagement and progress.
2. Assessment and Feedback
Monitor and evaluate students' progress to ensure continual growth.
- Design age-appropriate assessments that measure skills holistically.
- Record, analyse, and reflect on student performance data.
- Provide regular, constructive, and encouraging feedback.
- Identify weak areas and plan support sessions for improvement.
- Develop students' self-assessment and peer-assessment habits through guided reflection.
3. Integration & Islamisation (I²) in English Learning
Instil values and worldview through language and literature.
- Highlight moral and spiritual lessons found in texts, themes, and communication practices.
- Use English as a medium to discuss ethical choices, empathy, and respect for others.
- Reinforce Islamic values such as truthfulness (sidq), kindness (ihsan), and respect (adab al-hiwar).
- Collaborate with the Tarbiyyah Unit to design language materials with Islamic context and meaning.
- Encourage students to express gratitude, humility, and reflection through writing and speech.
4. Co-Curricular and Literacy Development
Strengthen language learning beyond the classroom.
- Lead or assist in English-based clubs, reading circles, or public speaking sessions.
- Promote literacy through creative writing, storytelling, and poetry workshops.
- Encourage participation in intra- and inter-school English competitions.
- Support the English Week, Language Month, and Reading Campaigns.
5. Student Character and Tarbiyyah
Model Islamic values and support holistic student development.
- Demonstrate qudwah hasanah (good example) through character, language, and discipline.
- Incorporate tazkirah, reflection, and value-based discussions naturally in class.
- Collaborate with the Tarbiyyah Unit to reinforce the integration of spiritual and moral education.
- Monitor students' well-being and character growth.
- Encourage teamwork, discipline, empathy, and gratitude in class activities.
6. Professional Growth and Collaboration
Enhance teaching quality and departmental collaboration.
- Participate actively in PLCs, meetings, and internal training sessions.
- Share creative strategies and resources with English colleagues.
- Continuously seek to improve pedagogical, technological, and linguistic competence.
- Uphold a spirit of cooperation and collective responsibility.
7. Administrative, Collaborative, and Tarbiyyah Duties
Support the school community through responsible service and teamwork.
- Maintain updated lesson records, assessment data, and teaching materials.
- Assist in preparing and marking school-based examinations.
- Participate in school programmes, usrah, tazkirah, and muhasabah sessions.
- Support school-wide Tarbiyyah activities and Islamic celebrations.
- Collaborate with academic and co-curricular units for integrated student development.
8. Parental Engagement and Communication
Build positive partnerships with parents to support learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding students' progress and behaviour.
- Encourage home reading and language practice.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events.
- Provide guidance to parents on supporting language learning at home.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education (TESL/ TESOL/ English Language Studies/ Linguistics/ Literature), or
- Bachelor's Degree with Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or
- Equivalent qualification recognised by the relevant authorities.
