About the role

The Accountant is responsible to provide accounting and finance support and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations to support the AR and AP functions within the company.

The ideal candidate will have a mindset of continuous improvement and change and will demonstrate curiosity, collaboration and the ability to deal with ambiguity especially in a start-up environment. You are passionate about learning new processes, keen to interact with multiple stakeholders, and take ownership for work delivered and manage a team.

This is an offshoring model, the role is based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia and reports directly to the Assistant Finance Manager

A summary of the key responsibilities are as follows :

• Timelines: Ensure that timelines and quality meet the agreed service levels and targets.
• Technical Knowledge: Ensure proficiency and effectiveness in managing day to day operations of AR and AP accounting functions to ensure timely and accurate preparation of statutory and monthly management reporting for consolidation.
• Stakeholder Management: Working closely with the other Operations teams (locally and regionally) to ensure accuracy of data, smooth operations, and timely escalations of issues to the Assistant Finance Manager (AFM). Liaise with both internal and external customers to manage and control all receivables in a timely and effective manner.
• Bank Reconciliation: Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
• Auditing: Assist with external audits by providing supporting documentation and explanations for financial transactions. Supports the team with external audit functions.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls and risk management practices.
• Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software and other financial tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency in financial management.
• Communication: Effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders, including management, investors, and regulatory authorities.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
• Monthly presentations: Able to assist with data preparation and presentation of financial results to stakeholders.
• Any other ad hoc duties assigned when appropriate.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Professional qualification certification preferred).
• Minimum of 3 to 4 years proven working experience in accounting or financial management roles, particularly with audit working experience with Big 4 Accounting Firms.
• Having a professional qualification will be an advantage (ACCA/ICAEW or equivalent). CA or CPA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations (IFRS/FRS).
• Proficiency in relevant accounting software, preferably in Oracle NetSuite and MS office applications.
• Ability to manage and support the team. A good team player with high level of maturity and independence
• Proficient in oral and written English and Malay language. Additional languages are an added bonus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
