Production support - Data Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Act as the first and second level support for production issues related to data pipelines, databases, and analytics platforms.
  • Root Cause Analysis for recurring incidents and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences, collaborating with teams.
  • System Monitoring & Health Checks: Monitor the performance and health of data systems, applications, and infrastructure to detect anomalies
  • Data Pipeline Maintenance: Maintain and support robust and efficient data pipelines (ETL/ELT processes) for data ingestion, processing, and transformation, ensuring data accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, data analysts, software developers, and business stakeholders to resolve issues, manage user requests, and ensure data accessibility.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system operations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and incident resolutions.
  • Available to provide 24/7 support for critical production systems as needed.
  • Deployment Support: Coordinate with development teams during the deployment and release of software updates

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Prior hands-on experience in a production support or application support role, preferable within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Experience with large-scale data platforms is a plus
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management (e.g., Teradata, Hadoop based data marts).
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, AWS, Azure, GCP, Cloudera CDP components).
  • Experience with ETL tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Splunk).
