Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced
Legal Manager
to oversee the company's legal functions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, managing contracts, mitigating risks, and providing legal support to senior management. This role involves handling regulatory matters, dispute resolution, and corporate governance while safeguarding the company's interests.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory & Compliance
- Provide
expert legal advice to the management team on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. - Ensure the company complies with local, national, and international laws and industry regulations.
- Develop and implement legal policies and frameworks to minimize legal risks.
2. Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
- Maintain a contract management system and ensure timely renewals and compliance.
- Support business teams in structuring legally sound agreements.
3. Risk Management & Dispute Resolution
- Identify potential legal risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Handle dispute resolution, litigation, and arbitration matter in coordination with external legal counsel.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings when required.
4. Corporate Governance & Regulatory Affairs
- Ensure corporate governance practices align with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a contract management system and ensure timely renewals and compliance.
- Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders.
5. Intellectual Property & Data Protection
- Safeguard the company's intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy laws.
6. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure legal considerations are embedded in business decisions.
- Provide training to employees on legal and compliance matters.
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as so instructed by the Superior/Senior Management team.
- The Company reserves the right to amend the job description and/or assign additional tasks as deemed necessary.
Qualifications / Skills and Competencies
- Education:
Bachelor's or master's degree in law (LLB/LLM). - Experience:
6+ years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and contract law.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple legal matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance
