Our client is a leading regional investment management and asset-management firm, part of a global financial services group with operations across Asia. The company manages diverse portfolios spanning equities, fixed income, and alternative assets. With technology at the core of its investment and operational strategy, the firm is strengthening its Technology Risk function to ensure robust governance and resilience across all digital and infrastructure platforms.

Location: Greater Kuala Lumpur (Hybrid)

Budget: Base salary up to RM 30,000/month

Job Description

As a senior member of the Technology Risk function, you will lead governance, oversight, and assurance activities to ensure that technology risks are effectively identified, assessed, and mitigated across the business.

  • Provide independent oversight of information and technology risks impacting business objectives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Technology Risk Management (TRM) framework aligned with group and regulatory standards.
  • Act as a trusted challenger to first-line functions, ensuring risks are properly evaluated and managed.
  • Demonstrate confidence in engaging and influencing senior IT and business stakeholders while maintaining independence as part of the second line.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of controls, tools, and risk mitigation processes across infrastructure, applications, and operations.
  • Define and monitor risk appetite, key risk indicators (KRIs), and maintain the technology risk register.
  • Collaborate with Group Technology Risk, Operational Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure consistency in risk management practices.
  • Support regulatory reviews and audits, ensuring alignment in responses and credibility in regulatory engagements.
  • Advise management on emerging risks and recommend risk mitigation or process improvements.
  • Prepare regular risk reports and updates for senior management and Risk Committees.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture and deliver awareness initiatives across IT and business units.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of TRM frameworks, automation, and analytics capabilities.
  • Participate in group-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects on technology risk management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8–12+ years
    of experience in
    Technology Risk, IT Audit, or Technology Governance
    , preferably within
    financial services
    (banking, insurance, or asset management).
  • Strong understanding of
    IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, SDLC, and operational risk management
    .
  • Exposure to multiple technology domains such as
    Cybersecurity, Identity & Access Management (IAM), Cloud, DevOps, infrastructure, applications
    , or
    IT service management (ITIL)
    .
  • Hands-on experience in developing, implementing, or maintaining
    technology risk frameworks
    ,
    policies
    , and
    risk metrics
    .
  • Familiarity with leading standards and regulatory frameworks such as
    NIST, ISO 27001, BNM, or MAS
    .
  • Professional certifications such as
    CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP, or ITIL
    are highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to stand firm and challenge constructively when engaging with business and IT stakeholders as part of a second-line function.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives.
  • Analytical, structured, and proactive in identifying and resolving technology risk issues.
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience within a technology risk or audit function is an advantage.
