What you will do. A glimpse in your role:
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) SEA and Australasia plays a strategic role in partnering with business leaders across the Company. In this role, you will align HR initiatives with business objectives, drive organizational effectiveness, enhance employee engagement, and advise on workforce planning and development. You will collaborate with senior leadership to shape people strategies and lead cross-functional HR projects.
Reporting to the VP – Regional HRBP & Office Management APAC, you will work closely with the APAC HR team, particularly the HRBP for North Asia, to ensure consistent, high-quality HR delivery aligned with regional strategies. Partnering with Group HR functions—including Talent Acquisition, Compensation & Benefits, and Projects—you will localize and implement global initiatives.
This position is based in Kuala Lumpur and has two (2) HRBP as direct reports who provide business partnering and office management support to the countries in South East Asia (Singapore, Malaysia) and Australasia (Australia & New Zealand). A hands-on role with opportunities to work with specialist teams to improve and implement best practices in HR.
As the HRBP, you will guide, mentor, and challenge business leaders while serving as a consultant on people initiatives. You will contribute to the development and execution of HR strategies and initiatives that advance the company's vision and mission. Additionally, you will act as the Country HR Leader for South Asia, fostering company culture across business segments and ensuring HR policies and projects are consistently applied.
Your responsibilities include:
- Work within the APAC HR team and collaborate with HRBPs from the regional areas and Centres of Excellence on a broad variety of HR-related topics and projects. Working within a fastpaced environment, you will act as the key point of contact for the region.
- Lead, collaborate and contribute to projects with other HR team members or cross-functionally in support of the enterprise's strategic goals.
- Work for the delivery of the people strategy in a true business partner style. You will share knowledge with the wider team, acting as a mentor to support the development of fellow ambitious colleagues. This support includes leading the implementation of core HR field initiatives regarding the culture, engagement, succession planning, talent development, as well as HR processes and training
- Analyse current trends, culture survey info, policies and reporting to make recommendations on improvements to the workplace. Gather and analyse HR and client feedback and diagnose business / people issues to collaborate with local management in developing and implementing solutions.
- Support organization design, people development, and change management focused on development and implementation of activities against business strategy.
- Support talent management processes in the field including the performance review process, succession planning, leadership assessments and internal talent movement.
- Drive and facilitates identification of high potential talents and build a strategic plan to support the growth of the business.
- Serve as an advocate – Solicits and listens to stakeholder concerns and takes an active role in resolving problems
- Provide information, or facilitates partners' ability to obtain information, about benefits, compensation, and training.
- Handle all escalated employee relations issues and concerns by working with internal partners and senior leaders to determine resolutions.
- Ensure outcomes are fair, consistent, and compliant with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Lead Labor Relations when required. Provide consultation and support to managers on HR issues and applicable company policies and employment laws.
- Understand company reporting and can analyse effectively to make timely recommendations to alleviate risk or positively influence the business or associates.
- Participate in designing and implementing training and development programs. Cooperate with external consulting companies
- Optimize the investment (optimal use of public funds) especially for training and development.
- Manage the annual performance evaluation, the annual salary review process and bonuses
- Facilitate client compliance with HR policy and coach clients on our values, behaviors and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) as required.
- As Country HR leader, be responsible to ensure country and region consistency
- Stay informed of the social legislation, trends, and developments on HR discipline.
- Formulate and develop HR-strategies, policies, and procedures from a country perspective. Take the lead by implementation
- Oversight responsibility for smooth monthly payroll process with our external payroll provider
- Oversight responsibility for Onboarding and Off boarding of our employees
