QA Packaging Engineer

Role and Responsibility:

Position: QA Packaging Engineer (Location: Prai/Batu Kawan, Penang, Malaysia)

Report to: QA Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Quality Packaging Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of products during the manufacturing process. They play a key role in implementing, executing and maintaining quality control procedures, ensuring products meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements, and continuously improving production processes to increase efficiency and product Quality in compliance to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO13845.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To perform inspection of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished product according to defined criteria (include FAI inspection).
2. To approve inspected materials that conform to specifications.
3. Authority to stop production when there is non-conformance material produced.
4. Responsible to assist management of quality assurance team including but not limited to identifying, developing and establishing quality assurance standards such as standard operating procedures (SOP), work instructions, guidelines, forms etc.
5. To work closely with production department, sourcing department and/or supplier on matters related to quality.
6. To handle quality issues until timely closure (include to drive containment actions, corrective actions and preventive actions internally and externally through root cause analysis).
7. To prepare 8D reports for customer, issue non-conformance report to suppliers and internal non-conformance report due to nonconformity.
8. Review and identify internal/external manufacturing risks and improvement potentials, assuring actions are taken to close identified gaps.
9. Prepare Quality reports, analyze data, summarizing findings, deviations, provide suggestions for improvements and lead improvement project until closure.
10. Maintain accurate records of quality tests, inspections, and reports in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
11. Team player who thrives on deadlines-driven new product introduction (NPI) project and able to deliver under pressure.
12. Work closely with other departments such as Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless production flow.
13. To assist department head in internal/external audits.
14. To arrange calibration of measurement devices and perform internal verification of measurement devices.
15. To track quality performance (including supplier performance) and prepare quality reports.
16. Responsible for document control (upkeep of filing and data entry accurately).
17. Working day: Monday-Saturday (alternate Saturday).
18. Any other tasks assign by superior as deem necessary from time to time.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

1. Possess at least Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering/Material Engineering or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

1. At least 3 year(s) of working experience in product quality or related field.
2. Must with industrial deep packaging experience in plastics thermoforming, injection molding, extrusion and good knowledge in hard disk/semiconductor clean room requirements. Knowledge with corrugated, foam, wooden crate and ESD-related packaging products is a plus.

LANGUAGES

1. English.
2. Bahasa Malaysia.
3. Mandarin and any other languages are added advantages.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

1. Pass Nefab Benchmark Online Assessment (i.e. Numerical reasoning, deductive-logical thinking, work-related behaviour and English).
2. Well-versed with proven ability with MS Office such as Excel and Power Point.
3. Basic knowledge in ERP system.
4. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex business-related documents.
5. A conscientious and self-starter who is able to plan, organise and take initiative to meet job objectives and tight deadlines independently.
6. Possess strong problem solving, analytical, leadership and decision-making skills.
7. Good learning ability, adaptability and flexibility.
8. Can-do attitude, driven and passionate about work.
9. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
