Test Manager

Position Overview

The Test Manager is responsible for planning, governing, and overseeing all testing activities across banking projects, ensuring high-quality delivery that complies with regulatory, security, and audit requirements. This role manages multiple testing streams, leads cross-functional test teams, aligns with business stakeholders, and ensures that all banking applications are thoroughly tested before production deployment.

Key Responsibilities1. Test Strategy, Governance & Planning

• Define and own the enterprise-level test strategy, framework, and standards for banking applications.
• Develop test plans for large-scale banking initiatives including core banking, digital channels, cards & payments, regulatory systems, and integration projects.
• Establish testing governance processes aligned with SDLC, STLC, Agile/DevOps, and regulatory expectations (BNM, PCI-DSS, AML/CFT).
• Manage test budget, resource planning, environment allocation, and capacity forecasting.

2. Test Delivery & Quality Assurance

• Oversee end-to-end testing phases: Functional, SIT, Regression, UAT, Performance, Security, Data Migration, and DR/BCP testing.
• Ensure accurate and complete test documentation (test plans, traceability matrix, test scripts, results, defect reports).
• Implement quality gates and ensure all testing deliverables meet compliance, audit, and risk standards.
• Manage test cycles, ensuring on-time delivery, minimal defects in production, and strict adherence to quality benchmarks.

3. Team Leadership & Resource Management

• Lead and mentor test leads, testers, automation engineers, and vendor testing teams.
• Coordinate multiple teams across business, IT, and external vendors.
• Ensure team members follow testing best practices, security standards, and banking compliance requirements.

4. Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Collaborate closely with project managers, business stakeholders, system owners, developers, architects, vendors, and regulators.
• Conduct test planning workshops, steering committee updates, defect triage meetings, and test sign-off sessions.
• Provide timely test progress updates, risk dashboards, issue logs, and executive management reports.

5. Test Automation, Tools & Continuous Improvement

• Define automation strategy and oversee implementation of automation frameworks (Selenium, Tosca, Cypress, etc.).
• Implement CI/CD testing integrations for DevOps-driven banking projects.
• Recommend best practices for performance testing, security testing, and API testing.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce test cycle time and increase test coverage.

6. Risk, Compliance & Audit

• Ensure all testing activities comply with:
• Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines
• PCI-DSS (for cards)
• AML/CFT regulatory requirements
• Data privacy and data masking rules
• Prepare testing evidence for internal and external audits.
• Proactively identify testing risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5-8 years of software testing experience, with at least 3–5 years in a Test Manager role.
• Strong domain experience in:
• Core Banking Systems
• Mobile & Internet Banking
• Cards, Payments & Transaction Systems (ISO8583, SWIFT, DuitNow)
• Digital banking channels
• Regulatory and compliance systems
• Proficiency in test management tools such as HP ALM, JIRA, Azure DevOps, or qTest.
• Experience with automation tools (Selenium, Tosca), performance testing (JMeter), and API testing (Postman, SoapUI).
• Solid understanding of SQL, API integration, ETL, and data validation.

Preferred Qualifications

• ISTQB Test Manager or Advanced Level certification.
• Agile/Scrum Master certification.
• Experience in cloud-based banking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bamboo.

Job Type: Contract

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM4, RM15,249.24 per month
