Position Title:
Control & Internal Standards Validation Specialist (Contract)
Location:
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (global insurance firm setting)
Contract Term:
6–12 months (with possibility of extension)
Clients engage RGP for expertise in delivering large, complex projects to strengthen their businesses. You will augment our client's internal control team to deliver on the internal standard-validation exercise. You will coordinate and assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls, identify gaps and weaknesses, and provide actionable recommendations for improvement. You will liaise with business, risk, compliance and internal audit teams across regions to ensure consistent standards and drive control enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute control design reviews and operating effectiveness testing across key business, finance, and IT processes.
- Coordinate with process owners and stakeholders globally to obtain evidence, document findings, and validate control performance.
- Identify control gaps and root causes, evaluate risk impact, and develop clear, pragmatic improvement recommendations.
- Prepare written reports and present findings to senior management and internal audit/risk committees.
- Support remediation tracking and follow-up activities to ensure timely implementation of agreed actions.
- Contribute to the enhancement of control frameworks, policies and monitoring mechanisms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Risk, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5-8 years' experience in internal audit, risk assurance, controls testing or compliance—ideally within financial services or insurance.
- Hands-on experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness; familiar with frameworks such as COSO, SOX, or other internal control standards.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to synthesise findings into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable coordinating across regions and engaging stakeholders at senior levels.
- Ability to work independently under contract terms, deliver to deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
- Professional qualification preferred (e.g., CIA, CISA, CPA/ACCA) and insurance industry exposure a plus.
