Senior ICT Project Manager

Job description:

The Senior ICT Project Manager will be the client representative to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of the ICT and fit-out requirements within a multi-stage data center build. This senior role involves leading cross-functional and matrixed ICT project teams. Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring that all ICT infrastructure deliverables—network installations, structured cabling, telecommunications systems, and data center technology components—are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing large-scale ICT deployments in data center environments, strong contractor/vendor management capabilities, and a deep understanding of data center ICT systems. This includes structured cabling, network infrastructure, cross-connects, telecommunications systems, power distribution related to ICT loads, and integration with facility fit-out activities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage ICT components of data center fit-out projects, working closely with data center design SMEs to provide on-site project support from initiation to final handover.
• Manage client expectations and maintain comprehensive status documentation for ICT project scope, budgets, billing, schedules, deliverables, and timeframes.
• Assist in developing RFI and RFP documentation for ICT packages, including bid levelling, vendor analysis, and recommendation reports.
• Develop and own detailed ICT project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and sequencing construction activities.
• Monitor and control ICT project budgets, ensuring costs remain within approved limits, and variations are tracked and justified.
• Oversee all ICT construction and installation activities, ensuring adherence to project specifications, standards, integration requirements, and quality benchmarks.
• Conduct regular site inspections to validate progress, ensure alignment with ICT design intent, and enforce safety and compliance requirements.
• Identify project risks—technical, operational, or schedule-related—and develop mitigation and contingency strategies.
• Maintain accurate and complete ICT project documentation, including plans, drawings, schedules, test results, and progress reports.
• Ensure all ICT project documentation is completed, submitted, and archived in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
• Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities: clear communication, excellent technical understanding of ICT project requirements, sound decision-making, and the drive to exceed client expectations.

Requirements and skills

• Minimum 10 years' experience managing data center ICT design, deployment, or facilities build projects.
• Strong ability to manage client expectations and maintain detailed ICT project status documents (scope, budget, billing, schedule, issues).
• Hands-on experience with data center ICT design and deployment best practices, including structured cabling, network infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and ICT-related power distribution understanding.
• Recent experience managing mid-size data center build-outs or fit-outs (minimum 10 MW) within colocation or hyperscale environments is preferred.
• Good knowledge of Malaysia's ICT-related codes of practice and regulatory requirements is preferred.
• Experience working in Malaysian data centers is preferred.
• Prior experience coordinating with local electrical, telecom, structured cabling, and ICT fit-out contractors.
• Experience working with local telecommunication authorities and carriers.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
• PMP, CDCP, CDCF, or relevant ICT/data center certifications are advantageous.
• Familiarity with MS Project, Primavera, Fulcrum, or similar project management tools is a plus.

• Working hours from Monday through Friday 8:30am to 6:00pm at the site office in Johor, Malaysia.
• Other responsibilities as and when required by the manager.
• Ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required
