  • Conduct risk assessments:

Identify potential hazards on site, from improper storage to unsafe equipment, and develop strategies to mitigate them.

  • Perform site inspections:

Regularly walk the site to check for unsafe conditions, machinery, and practices, and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Develop and implement policies:

Create, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures, including emergency response plans.

  • Monitor compliance:

Ensure all workers and contractors adhere to local, state, and federal safety laws and site-specific rules.

  • Oversee permits:

Manage and monitor the permit-to-work system for high-risk activities like working at height or confined space entry.

Training and communication

  • Provide safety training:

Develop and deliver safety training programs, including site inductions for new employees and regular "toolbox talks".

  • Communicate safety information:

Establish and maintain effective communication structures to inform all personnel about safety protocols, updates, and concerns.

  • Collaborate with project staff:

Work closely with project managers and supervisors to integrate safety into all stages of planning and execution.

Incident management and documentation

  • Investigate accidents:

Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses to determine root causes and implement preventative measures.

  • Maintain records:

Keep accurate and detailed records of inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance activities.

  • Prepare reports:

Generate reports on safety performance, incident findings, and compliance status for management and regulatory bodies.

Emergency preparedness

  • Develop emergency plans:

Create comprehensive plans for various emergency situations, such as fires or structural collapses.

  • Test emergency plans:

Conduct drills and tests to ensure emergency response plans are effective and personnel are prepared.
