Cost Controller
to join our team at VGM. In this role, you'll play a key part in monitoring budgets, analyzing variances, and supporting business decisions that shape our success.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Cost Controller based
in Kuala Lumpur.
The Cost Controller will be responsible for monitoring and controlling project costs to ensure alignment with the budget. Day-to-day tasks include cost accounting, financial analysis, preparing budget reports, and cost management. Collaboration with various departments to optimize costs and improve financial performance is also a key part of the role.

  • Provide detailed provisions regarding the impact of car model margins, launch costs, and other expenses.
  • Prepare and present monthly actual and forecast financial results for Group reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual budgets and 5-year financial results projections, providing insights to support strategic planning.
  • Coordinate monthly Factory Cost Optimization (FKO) meetings, driving discussions on cost-saving initiatives process improvements.
  • Coordinate weekly Cost Management meeting (CMM).
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the cost performance of VGM by department, identifying key trends, improvement opportunities, and providing monthly cost center reports to department heads for informed decision-making.
  • Analyze and explain variances between actual, forecasted, and budgeted financial results to ensure effective expense management.
  • Verify foreign exchange rates and process compensation claims from suppliers to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Ensure accuracy of projections, timely reporting, alignment with business goals
  • Ensure effectiveness of cost measures and initiatives implemented.
  • Developing ad hoc financial and operational reporting as required.

Qualifications

  • Cost Control and Cost Accounting skills
  • Strong Analytical skills and financial skills
  • Experience in Cost Management
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA or MIA) is a plus
  • Previous experience in the automotive industry is beneficial
