Project Engineer

About the role

HSL CONSTRUCTOR SDN BHD is seeking a talented and driven Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Johor. As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of our civil and structural engineering projects, ensuring they are completed to the highest standards and within set timelines. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects.

What you'll be doing

• Assist in conducting design phase engineering calculations and estimates
• Collects, consolidates and interprets all project related information into the new project design.
• Assist in preparing of method statement by reading, interpreting, reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing process, engineering drawings and information.
• Assist to identify, analyze and recommend alternatives to engineering design.
• Assist to perform design work, plans, specifications and cost estimates.
• Assist to perform field inspections.
• Assist in creating projected milestone and operational plans for different phases of assigned projects which includes scheduling, monitoring and reviewing of the work of others, including contractors.
• Assist to prepare and interpret engineering plans and specifications and communicating technical requirements to contractors.
• Support in conducting on-site engineering studies, including gathering pertinent data, analyzing alternatives and performing related calculations.
• Assist in determining project requirements and estimates resources by allocating correct resources such as manpower, materials and equipment.
• Assist in managing job costing in preparation through Bill of Quantities and quotation.
• Provides input into the preparation of contracts and participates in the revisions of contractual agreements with all stakeholders (e.g. architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors).
• Assist in implementation of the following plans and documents provided: Job Safety Analysis, Method Statement, Lifting Plans, Ventilation Plan, Rescue Plan, Mobilization & Demobilization Plan, Floor Plan, Road Closure and Re-routing Plan and Environmental Plan.
• Assist in ensuring that end-to-end site works execution are carried out accordingly based on approved detailed drawings, interpreted plans and requirements of relevant authorities.
• Assist in ensuring project execution and budget are maintained and delivered in a timely manner.
• Support in research, development and prepare recommendations for alternative engineering solutions and selects, modifies or adapts standards, techniques and procedures in assigned functional area.
• Support contract administration and construction inspections for moderately complex projects, including reviewing final plans, specifications, special conditions and agreements.
• Work under the advice of the Safety Officer to adhere to compliance and requirements with regulatory and industry standards and requirements during the construction phase.  .
• Assist in conducting site measurements and inspections to determine the actual scope of services, type of construction material, specifications and other technical requirements.
• Assist in monitoring and conducting inspection of the quality and workmanship of the sub-contractors the work process phase and completion phase of projects with clients.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar project engineering role, preferably in the construction industry
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, methods, and practices
• Proficient in project management tools, such as MS Project, and experience in using CAD software
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with relevant safety, environmental, and quality regulations and standards
