The Staff Commodity Business Manager plays a key role in developing supply chain strategies that support Cepheid's medical diagnostic instrument roadmap. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence hardware decisions and help shape the future of Cepheid's product portfolio.

Reporting to the Director of Commodity Business Management – USA, this role is part of the Global Operations Team, which includes support based in Penang, Malaysia. On-site presence is required. While the role is officially under Pall—the Danaher legal entity operating in Malaysia—it is dedicated exclusively to supporting Cepheid's business. Like Pall, Cepheid is one of Danaher's 15+ operating companies.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Manage end-to-end supplier relationships, including contract negotiations, supplier identification and selection, and supplier development
• Generate tactical and strategic commodity roadmaps that drive improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and working capital
• Research and identify new technologies and industry trends across multiple commodities
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure end-user requirements are sufficiently detailed for sourcing and procurement
• Manage supplier risk through identification and mitigation of supplier operational and financial deficiencies

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Engineering with 8+ years experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Purchasing, and/or Supplier Relationship Management or Master's degree in field with 6+ years of related experience or Doctoral degree in with 3+ years of work experience
• Direct experience leading cross-functional teams to solve complex problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions
• Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view
• Global sourcing experience for multinational manufacturing company
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and spoken, in English

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• Ability to travel to local suppliers up to 25% of the time and to international locations 10% of the time

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Highly regulated medical device manufacturing
• Building, maintaining, and fostering relationships with suppliers including commercial experience including contractual documentation, within a dynamic environment 
• Ability to interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's) and Drawings
