Summary of Responsibilities:
Learning Support, EAL & Intervention
- Provide targeted in-class and withdrawal support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
- Design and deliver structured, child-centred intervention sessions.
- Assess referred and newly enrolled pupils for EAL and learning support needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualised academic, behavioural, and social support plans.
- Maintain and update relevant documentation.
- Track, record, and evaluate pupil progress to inform next steps and adapt strategies.
- Promote and model best practice in inclusive teaching, behaviour support, and language development.
- Support the successful integration of EAL/SEN pupils across all aspects of school life.
Collaboration, Coaching & Whole-School Support
- Work closely with the Head of Department, class teachers, and teaching assistants to ensure cohesive support for learners.
- Contribute to meetings and planning discussions related to EAL, Learning Support, and pupil progress.
- Provide guidance and support for teachers and learning assistants to strengthen inclusive practice.
- Assist with departmental documentation for relevant processes.
- Communicate professionally with parents, maintaining high standards in both verbal and written correspondence.
- Liaise with external agencies when necessary to support pupils' needs.
- Maintain a strong and positive profile for the EAL/Learning Support department within the school.
Collaborate with class teachers to plan and deliver inclusive, engaging learning activities.
Continually refine teaching approaches and intervention models to improve pupil outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, TESOL/TEFL, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience supporting EAL and SEN pupils in a school setting, preferably international.
- Strong knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies, differentiation, and intervention approaches.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with diverse learning needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and promoting pupil well-being.
