We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural QAQC Engineer to join our dedicated team to ensure that all project deliverables adhere to the most stringent industry standards, specifications, and client contractual requirements.
What You'll Be Doing
As a pivotal executor within the Structural QAQC domain, your role will be centered on the following core responsibilities to uphold systematic quality assurance and consistent quality control throughout the project lifecycle:
1. Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation and Documentation- Establish and Govern: Develop, revise, and ensure the effective implementation of the Project Quality Management System (QMS) and project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for all structural works, referencing applicable international and local codes (e.g., ISO 9001, relevant Eurocodes, CIDB requirements).
- Documentation Control: Manage and maintain comprehensive QA/QC documentation, including technical submittals, material certifications, Inspection Request Forms (IRFs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and the final As-Built/Turnover Dossiers, ensuring complete integrity and traceability.
- Pre-Construction Vetting: Rigorously review and approve the Method Statements and Quality Control Plans (QCPs) submitted by contractors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with design specifications and industry best practices.
Witnessing & Inspection (W&I): Conduct critical stage quality surveillance and mandatory inspections for various structural disciplines, including:
Foundation Works: Pile testing, backfilling density, and formwork support systems.
- Reinforcement Works: Verification of compliance regarding rebar specification, spacing, lap lengths, and concrete cover.
- Concrete Works: Oversee pre-pour preparation, execute on-site testing (slump tests), and manage the curing and crushing of cubes/cylinders for compressive strength validation.
- Steel Structure: Monitor welding procedures, coordinate and review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results, and verify bolt tensioning/torqueing, and member plumbness.
- Precast Assembly: Ensure the dimensional accuracy and quality of connections during the fabrication and site erection of pre-fabricated structural components.
- Non-Conformance Management: Promptly identify, document, and track all structural Non-Conformances (NCRs), facilitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and driving the implementation and closure of Effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the principal QA/QC contact point, ensuring seamless and professional communication with the Project Management Team, Design Consultants, Construction Supervisors, Subcontractors, and the Client's representatives on all quality-related matters.
- Audits and Compliance: Assist in and participate in internal and external quality audits, providing necessary documentation and data to ensure the project maintains continuous compliance and conformity to all regulatory mandates.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on key quality performance indicators and metrics, providing periodic analytical updates to the management team.
What We're Looking For (Desired Profile & Core Capabilities)
To succeed in this high-impact and critical role, we seek candidates with the following professional qualifications and essential core competencies:
Professional Qualifications & Experience- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Experience: A minimum of [Insert Number, e.g., 4 to 6] years of progressive work experience in a Structural QA/QC Engineer capacity within the Construction or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) industry.
- Code Proficiency: In-depth command of local and international structural codes and standards (e.g., MS/BS/Eurocodes) and the ability to perform thorough technical vetting of drawings and specifications.
Certifications (Advantageous): Possession of relevant professional accreditations is a distinct advantage, such as:
Registration with IEM/BEM (or equivalent Professional body).
- Relevant CIDB Competency Certifications.
- Certifications in Concrete Technology or Welding Inspection (e.g., CSWIP/PCN Level 2).
