Job Purpose

The Steward plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen and service areas. The position supports chefs and kitchen staff by cleaning utensils, managing kitchen waste, and ensuring smooth back-of-house operations that meet food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning & Hygiene
  • Wash and sanitize all kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery, glassware, and cooking equipment.
  • Ensure all kitchen and dishwashing areas are kept clean and organized at all times.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly to maintain hygiene and prevent accidents.
  • Remove garbage and waste from kitchen areas safely and dispose of it properly.
  • Support Kitchen Operations
  • Assist chefs and cooks in basic food preparation when required (e.g., washing, peeling, or cutting vegetables).
  • Ensure all clean utensils and equipment are properly stored and easily accessible.
  • Maintain adequate supply of cleaning materials, dishwashing liquids, and sanitizers.
  • Assist in receiving and storing food supplies in proper storage conditions.
  • Equipment & Safety
  • Operate dishwashing machines safely and ensure correct use of detergents and sanitizers.
  • Immediately report any kitchen equipment malfunction or maintenance issue to the supervisor.
  • Follow all safety and hygiene protocols as per restaurant and health regulations.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals with care and ensure proper storage after use.
  • Teamwork & Discipline
  • Cooperate with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
  • Follow the instructions of kitchen supervisors and maintain a positive work attitude.
  • Adhere strictly to restaurant grooming, hygiene, and discipline standards.

Requirements

  • No formal education required (on-the-job training provided).
  • Prior experience as a Steward or Kitchen Helper in F&B industry is an advantage.
  • Physically fit and able to handle cleaning tasks and long working hours.
  • Willing to work weekends, public holidays, and rotational shifts.
  • Strong sense of cleanliness, teamwork, and reliability.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Contract, Temporary

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: RM1, RM2,000.00 per month

Expected hours: No more than 48 per week
