Key Responsibilities

  • Provide
    comprehensive legal support
for large-scale infrastructure and renewable energy projects, including project structuring, land acquisition, EPC, O&M, and joint venture agreements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of
    commercial, construction, and procurement contracts

  • Partner closely with
Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, and Finance
teams to align legal frameworks with operational and financial objectives.
  • Manage and resolve
    contractual claims, disputes, and variations
, including overseeing external counsel where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant
laws, regulations, licenses, and environmental frameworks
governing infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.
  • Advise management and the board on
legal risks, corporate governance, and regulatory matters
, ensuring proper internal controls and due diligence.
  • Develop and implement
standard contract templates, risk matrices, and compliance processes
    to enhance project delivery efficiency.
  • Lead
    training and capability-building initiatives
to promote legal and contractual awareness across project and procurement teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Law (LLB)
    ;
    admission to the Malaysian Bar
    or equivalent common-law jurisdiction preferred.
  • Minimum
    8–10 years of post-qualification experience
, with proven track record in
infrastructure, construction, or renewable energy projects
    .
  • Strong expertise in
contract negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution
    within project-based environments.
  • Solid understanding of
EPC, FIDIC, and government infrastructure contract structures
    .
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to balance commercial objectives with legal safeguards.
  • Experience collaborating with
    multidisciplinary teams
    (engineering, project management, procurement, finance).
  • Prior experience in
large-scale government-linked or private sector infrastructure projects
    is highly advantageous.

Preferred Attributes

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to provide
    commercially sound legal advice
    in dynamic, time-sensitive project contexts.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of
    working independently under minimal supervision
    .
  • Experience with
renewable energy (solar farms, grid integration)
    projects will be a plus.
  • Professional experience in
Contract Law, Corporate Law, or Project Finance
    are advantageous.
