JOB PURPOSE
Prepare, review and vet legal documents to support stockbroking and futures broking activities and ensure that the rights and interests of AFFIN Hwang Investment Bank Berhad ("AHIBB") are protected at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide advice on legal risk factors regarding business decisions and operations of AHIBB as well as advise on proper legal documentation, where required.
  • Support the initiatives or new products and services to be offered by AHIBB by providing legal advice and prepare or review related legal documents.
  • Prepare the financing documents relating to the portfolio lending facility based on the standard template prepared by external solicitors.
  • Attend to matters that may be referred to Legal by support functions, which include but are not limited to liaising with the external solicitors in respect of preparation of the relevant documentation for staff housing loan or reviewing vendor agreements and IT contracts.
  • Manage the appointment and removal of law firms from the panel of solicitors, process any request for appointment of non-panel law firms and conduct regular review of panel law firms.
  • Serve as secretariat to AHIB management committees allocated to AHIBB Legal.
  • Undertake such other duties, including legal matters received from the AFFIN Group of companies, as may be required from time to time.
     

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor's degree in law.
  • 5-7 years of experience in providing legal advice to an investment bank or stockbroking company, either as an in-house counsel or a practicing lawyer in a law firm or both.
  • Familiar with the legal requirements in relation to the financial services and capital markets industry.
  • Hands-on, proactive and able to work independently with strong critical and analytical ability.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and management with good interpersonal and relationship building skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels, including with relevant external parties.
