About the role

ASTAR Steel Sdn Bhd, a reputable steel manufacturer based in Senai, Johor, is seeking a dedicated Senior Account Executive to support our Finance Department in the preparation of management accounts, budgeting, cash flow reporting, project accounting, and financial analysis. This full-time position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting for the company.

What you'll be doing
  • Preparing monthly Management Accounts, including variance analysis and RRPT reporting
  • Preparing monthly cash flow and assisting in the development of the annual budget
  • Maintaining and updating audit schedules, stock listings, and supporting documents for review
  • Managing bank-related processes such as IBG submissions, BA purchase submission, and bank reconciliation review
  • Reviewing journal vouchers and verifying financial documentation and requisition forms
  • Preparing and finalising project P&L accounts, and reviewing related project claims
  • Handling credit control matters
  • Assisting with year-end closing and preparation/drafting of financial statements
  • Liaising with external parties including auditors, tax agents, bankers, and company secretary
  • Supporting the implementation and compliance of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
  • Performing any other finance-related tasks as required by management
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar accounting role
  • Hands-on experience with full set of accounts, monthly reporting, and year-end closing (SQL / QNE experience is an advantage)
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, documentation, and audit requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to liaise across departments and with external parties
