Job Summary

The Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Executive is responsible for supporting the compliance and implementation of Yum supplier FSQ standards for existing and potential vendors. This role ensures that all food products and suppliers meet Yum Brand Standards through inspections, audits, documentation reviews, and quality monitoring activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support in Compliance and Implementation of Yum Supplier FSQ Standards

  • Support vendors through training and guidance on Yum FSQ standards (e.g., Yum STAR requirements, GFSI benchmark certification).
  • Review and assess potential vendors' FSQ programs and implementation.
  • Review vendors' Product Specifications, Quality Assurance Programs (QAP), Notification of Changes (NOC), and other FSQ documentation to ensure approvals and validity.

2. Raw Ingredient Vendor Monitoring – QA Check & Yum STAR Pre-Audits

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct routine supplier inspections and FSQ pre-audits.
  • Submit inspection reports to suppliers and ensure timely corrective actions for issues highlighted.
  • Review and assess the effectiveness of supplier corrective actions and work with suppliers to develop preventive measures.

3. Address FSQ-Related Complaints Pertaining to Products Supplied to Restaurants

  • Attend to restaurant or internal complaints related to supplier FSQ raw ingredients.
  • Lodge complaints to affected suppliers, monitor their corrective actions, and update complaint tracker records.

4. Coordinate and Accomplish Microbiology Sampling and Testing

  • Liaise with approved lab vendors and restaurant personnel to carry out routine product sampling and testing as per the sampling plan.
  • Coordinate ad-hoc, duplicate, and retention sample testing when necessary.
  • Ensure non-conformances are investigated and resolved.
  • Compile routine monitoring results and report to the Person-in-Charge (PIC) monthly.
  • Verify purchase orders, lab invoices, and test results before submitting to the Finance Department for payment processing.

5. Expedite Franchisor's Quality Monitoring Requirements (e.g., Product Cuttings)

  • Identify and familiarize with core/key products according to Yum Brand Standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct routine product cuttings on core/key products against Yum Brand Standards.
  • Highlight quality issues discovered during product cuttings, communicate with suppliers, and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Review and assess the effectiveness of suppliers' corrective actions and develop preventive measures for recurring issues.

6. Ensure Internal Halal Applications Completed for All New Products and Promotions

  • Obtain information from relevant departments for new and existing products supplied by new vendors and for promotions.
  • Process internal Halal applications and submit to the KFC Halal and Shariah Department for review and approval before product or promotion launch.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Food Microbiology, Food Service, or other food-related disciplines.
  • Preferably 1–2 years of working experience in the food and beverage industry related to QA.
  • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification is an added advantage.
  • Solid understanding of Food Safety and Quality systems.
  • Able to work independently, a team player, and proactive.
  • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and verbal).
  • Willing to work during odd hours or weekends when required.
  • Must be able to work in low-hygiene conditions, such as poultry slaughtering areas (with exposure to blood, feces, and odors).
  • Exposure to chlorine-based environments (e.g., spin chillers, hand dips, footbaths) is expected.
  • Willing to travel independently within major districts in Sabah and Sarawak.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2, RM2,600.00 per month
