Job Overview

The Laboratory Assistant will support lecturers in preparing and organizing Biomedical Engineering lab practical sessions. This role ensures the smooth operation of laboratory activities, proper maintenance of equipment, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation & Setup
    • Assist lecturers in preparing for Biomedical Engineering lab practical sessions.
    • Set up apparatus and equipment for laboratory use and maintain them in clean condition.
  • Maintenance & Inventory
    • Update and manage laboratory inventory.
    • Care for and maintain laboratory equipment and facilities.
    • Perform cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
    • Ensure proper upkeep of the laboratory workplace.
  • Technical Support
    • Identify and report technical problems related to laboratory materials or equipment to the Lab Executive.
    • Liaise with the Lab Executive regarding equipment requirements, disposable items, and work plans.
    • Assist in laboratory development programs and work requests.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Clean laboratory work surfaces and dispose of biohazard waste according to departmental waste management plans.
    • Follow laboratory policies on dress code, professional conduct, attendance/punctuality, documentation, and performance criteria.
    • Comply with all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
  • General Duties
    • Assist Laboratory Executives in all duties related to laboratory operations.
    • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
