Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced
MongoDB Data Modeler
to join our client's technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining
high-quality Physical Data Models (PDMs)
for MongoDB, translating Logical Data Models (LDMs) into scalable, efficient database schemas. This role requires a strong understanding of data modelling principles, MongoDB architecture, and close collaboration with business analysts, architects, and development teams to ensure optimal database performance and alignment with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality Physical Data Models for MongoDB by analysing and translating Logical Data Models into practical, scalable schemas.
  • Analyse and interpret Logical Data Models to understand structure, relationships, and requirements.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and data architects to interpret entity relationships, dependencies, and attribute definitions.
  • Design, optimise, and implement efficient MongoDB data models that meet performance and storage requirements.
  • Act as the bridge between database management, development, and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with application and infrastructure needs.
  • Apply best practices in MongoDB schema design, indexing, and data distribution.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Physical Data Models, schema changes, and MongoDB configurations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, align data models with business needs, and ensure data quality.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for MongoDB schema design improvements and performance enhancements.
  • Mentor junior team members and guide stakeholders on MongoDB data modelling best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and managing MongoDB Physical Data Models for large-scale applications.
  • Strong expertise in MongoDB schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimisation.
  • Ability to interpret and transform Logical Data Models into robust Physical Data Models.
  • Deep knowledge of document-oriented database design, including normalisation and denormalisation techniques specific to MongoDB.
  • Proficiency with MongoDB tools (e.g., Compass, Atlas) and data modelling software.
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with other NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, Couchbase) or data modelling tools.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard data modelling and database design practices.
  • Knowledge of MongoDB performance tuning, backup, and recovery strategies.
