Senior Lecturer in TESL/TESOL

JOB SUMMARY

They will normally make a significant contribution to:

• teaching, scholarship and administration activities of an organisational unit or an interdisciplinary area at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level;
• leadership and engagement in scholarly, research and/or professional activities relevant to the profession, discipline and/or community; and
• demonstrate original contributions to advancing knowledge in research or scholarship at least at a national level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and continuously enhance curriculum and teaching materials across various academic levels and programs.
• Lead and facilitate teaching activities, including lectures, tutorials, and assessments, to ensure high standards of student learning outcomes.
• Provide academic consultation and mentorship to students.
• Supervise honours, postgraduate, and doctoral students.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in teaching, supervision, and mentorship.
• Support the growth and innovation of the Faculty's learning and teaching initiatives.
• Develop and maintain a robust portfolio of research and scholarly activities.
• Actively contribute to research training, the formation of research groups, and collaborative scholarly networks.
• Engage with industry and professional communities in areas aligned with the Faculty's focus.
• Provide leadership in academic, professional, and community-oriented initiatives.
• Uphold high academic and professional standards across all responsibilities.
• Participate in the administration and continuous improvement of academic programs within the Faculty

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• PhD in TESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English Language Studies, English Linguistics; or related disciplines.
• Recognized research track record with publications in high-ranked journals, proceedings, and/or books
• Possess of experience teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with excellent teaching quality/feedback.
• Knowledge in relevant sub-areas or specialist areas.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Experience in curriculum development and administration
• Experience of supervising postgraduate (including doctoral) students
• Experience in providing consulting and training services.
• Participation in collaborative research projects with other academics.
• Experience of strategic planning and leadership in academic contexts.
• Experience in motivating and mentoring academic colleagues.
• Ability to identify research opportunity and attract external support.
• Ability to foster collaborative relationships with other universities, government agencies, professional bodies, and private organisations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM9, RM13,000.00 per month
