Greater Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia VHR Consultancy Full time

Our Client:

A well-established regional engineering and technology group involved in large-scale industrial, infrastructure and energy-related projects across multiple markets, delivering end-to-end solutions to public and private sector clients.

Role Overview:

The
Senior Finance Executive
will play a key role in driving accurate financial reporting, budgeting and analysis to support strategic decision-making and operational performance. Positioned within the finance team, this role ensures the integrity of financial information, contributes to planning and forecasting, and serves as a bridge between finance and business units to enable growth and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for assigned business units, liaising with operational stakeholders to derive assumptions, track performance variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct financial analysis including cost-to-serve, margin analysis, project profitability, and capital expenditure assessment, presenting insights to senior management to inform strategic choices.
  • Monitor and manage working capital, cash flow projections, and treasury controls to support operational funding needs, funding plans and liquidity risk management.
  • Implement, maintain and enhance internal controls, policies and procedures across financial operations and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (including tax, corporate governance and audit).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, operations, business development) to provide finance support for large-scale infrastructure projects—tracking budgets, reviewing contract terms, monitoring change orders and ensuring billing/revenue recognition aligns with project progress.
  • Assist the external audit process by providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation; follow-up on audit findings and lead the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the finance function: automation of reporting tools, enhancement of financial systems, training of junior staff and optimization of process efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' progressive finance experience within a medium to large size organization—ideally in infrastructure, engineering, construction or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (e.g., MFRS/IFRS), financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in financial modelling, project cost tracking and profitability analysis in a project-based business environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail, able to interpret complex financial data and present clear insights.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with stakeholders across different functional teams and geographies.
  • High level of integrity, self-motivation, strong organizational skills, discipline and ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience with ERP/financial systems, advanced Excel skills; knowledge of Power BI or other analytics tools an advantage.
