We're Hiring: Manager, Legal | UEM Sunrise Berhad

As the
Manager, Legal
, you will provide leadership and strategic direction within the Legal Department, reporting directly to the Head, Legal & Tender Secretary. You'll oversee the development and deployment of legal resources to meet UEM Sunrise's operational and strategic objectives, ensuring robust governance, compliance, and protection of the company's interests.

This role is ideal for a seasoned legal professional with expertise in
property development
, strong command of
contract law, litigation management, and corporate advisory
, and proven experience in managing complex legal affairs.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements, regulations, and laws, and liaise with the Company Secretarial Department when necessary.
  2. Prepare, review, and recommend legal documentation to safeguard Company interests while fulfilling client needs.
  3. Provide sound evaluation, advice, and counsel to Management and/or the Board on legal matters.
  4. Manage litigation and intellectual property issues involving the Company.
  5. Liaise with external solicitors to manage legal cases and ensure timely resolutions.
  6. Conduct legal research and monitor legislative changes, keeping Management and/or the Board informed.

Minimum Essential Qualifications & Competencies

Formal Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
  • Master's Degree in Law (LLM) or MBA is preferred.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior legal role, preferably within a corporate environment, focusing on contract law, litigation management, and legal advisory.

Skills & Knowledge

  1. Proven leadership in managing and motivating legal teams.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders and external partners.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound judgment in legal risk management.
