Job description:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Civil and Structural (C&S) Engineer with experience in commercial interior fit-out works to join our growing team in Malaysia. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can assess existing structural conditions, coordinate with design and construction teams, and ensure all civil and structural components of fit-out projects are safe, compliant, and efficiently delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and verify the structural integrity of existing buildings to support proposed interior fit-out designs.
  • Review and ensure structural compliance for interior modifications.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors, consultants, and authorities (e.g. DBKL, CIDB, Bomba) for design submissions and approvals.
  • Coordinate closely with Interior Designers, Architects, M&E Engineers, and Contractors to integrate structural elements into fit-out plans.
  • Provide technical advice on civil and structural aspects, including materials, load distribution, and modification impacts.
  • Conduct site inspections and supervise civil and structural work related to fit-out, including rectification works and reinforcement, if needed.
  • Prepare and review structural drawings, calculations, and method statements in compliance with Malaysian building codes.
  • Monitor construction progress, quality, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Manage and solve technical issues that arise on-site and ensure smooth project execution.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, with at least 2 years in commercial interior fit-out or renovation projects.
  • Experience working with interior design or fit-out contractors, especially in retail, F&B, office, or hotel projects
  • Strong understanding of commercial interior fit-out requirements.
  • Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, structural analysis and calculation tools.
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate existing structures and provide reinforcement or modification solutions.
  • Strong communication skills in Mandarin, English and B. Malaysia to effectively communicate with our diverse client base and stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently under tight deadlines and coordinate across multiple disciplines.
