Role Purpose:
The Staff, Data Science architects and leads the development of enterprise-grade AI and machine learning systems aligned with the company's long-term objectives, tackling the organisation's most complex data challenges while shaping the AI and data science roadmap, establishing best practices for modelling, experimentation, and platform standards, mentoring Leads and Seniors, advising stakeholders on high-impact decisions, and ensuring all data science initiatives deliver practical value and measurable business outcomes across the company.

In this role you will:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of advanced data science, AI, and ML initiatives. This includes framing business problems, driving data exploration, developing predictive and statistical models, and ensuring solutions are production-ready and deliver measurable business impact.
  • Oversee the reliability, performance, and scalability of production ML systems. Strengthen MLOps workflows covering feature pipelines, model training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining. Proactively identify system bottlenecks, enhance observability, and ensure compliance with data quality, security, and Responsible AI requirements.
  • Establish and uphold documentation standards for data science workflows, experiment methodologies, modelling decisions, and operational runbooks. Ensure all documentation is consistent, comprehensive, and onboarding-ready to support knowledge continuity and organisational maturity.
  • Provide architectural and modelling reviews across data science projects to enforce high engineering and analytical standards. Define best practices for model development, experimentation, feature engineering, and integration with data and ML systems. Ensure solutions are maintainable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise technical direction.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to align modelling priorities with business needs. Communicate insights, results, risks, and trade-offs clearly to diverse stakeholders. Influence strategic decisions and ensure data science outputs integrate effectively into operational workflows and product roadmaps.
  • Coach Senior and Lead Data Scientists through technical reviews, project direction, and capability building. Foster a high-performance culture by promoting best practices, continuous learning, and strong delivery discipline within the team.
  • General Responsibilities: All employees are required to ensure adherence to the compliance of company policies, industry regulations and legal requirements. All employees are expected to assist with tasks, projects, and other duties related to the role, as and when deemed necessary.

You're a great fit if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on data engineering.
  • Mastery in at least one data computing language or framework (e.g. Python, Scala, SQL).
  • Strong bias for action with proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in designing scalable and robust distributed data systems, ensuring high availability and reliability, and handling real-time data processing.
  • Track record of leading projects from concept to deployment, ensuring high quality and timely delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
