Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Senior Research Analyst (Credit Focus) role located in Northpoint HQ office, Kuala Lumpur. As a Senior Research Analyst, you will conduct in-depth credit research, provide actionable insights, and support investment decision-making across various credit sectors, including local and foreign corporate bonds/sukuk and structured credit. Key responsibilities include evaluating financial data, developing insights into credit risks, preparing detailed reports, and presenting findings. The role also requires close collaboration with investment teams to provide regular updates and build effective credit strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the research and analysis of credit markets, focusing on individual issuers, sectors, and credit ratings.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to assess credit risk, including cash flow analysis, debt serviceability, and liquidity.
  • Produce high-quality research reports that offer actionable investment recommendations, focusing on credit trends, market dynamics, and risk factors.
  • Monitor market developments and economic indicators to identify potential credit risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, and other research teams to provide insights that support investment strategies.
  • Present findings and insights to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, clients, and industry experts.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes, credit rating agency assessments, and macroeconomic developments that impact credit markets.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree or CFA designation will be added advantage).
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience with at least 3 years experience in credit research or a related role, with a strong understanding of credit analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to conduct detailed credit research across various sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel, with experience using Bloomberg, FactSet, and other financial tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present research findings to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
