Social Media Manager

We are looking for a proactive, creative, and analytically minded
Mid-Weight Social Media Manager
to join our team in Malaysia. This role requires someone who is culturally aware, platform-savvy, and highly organised, with strong experience managing multiple social channels for multiple brands. You will be responsible for planning, publishing, optimising, and reporting on social media content across both local and international platforms.
This is an opportunity for a digital-first marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing creativity with data-driven thinking.
Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy and Planning
- Develop platform-specific social media strategies for multiple brands, aligned with campaign goals and audience insights
- Create channel playbooks, content calendars, and scheduling plans that ensure consistent brand presence
- Conduct competitor analysis, audience research, and industry trend monitoring
- Execute social efforts aligned with campaign goals
- Integrate SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) and AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) strategies to strengthen organic discoverability
- Ensuring content is optimised for AI-driven search and recommendation engines to improve cross-platform ranking
Content Management and Production Support
- Work closely with creative and production teams to plan, brief, and execute social media content (static, video, UGC, live content, etc)
- Ensure all assets follow platform best practices and brand guidelines
- Provide on-ground and virtual support where required during shoots, livestreams, influencer collaborations, and content capture sessions
- Adapt global assets for local markets when necessary
Channel Management
- Manage day-to-day publishing, community management, and engagement across key social media platforms in Southeast Asia, not limited to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok/ Douyin, Kuaishou, RedNote
- Oversee and maintain multiple social media pages for multiple brands simultaneously
- Monitor comment sentiment, respond to audiences, and flag potential issues early
Performance Tracking & Optimisation
- Analyse performance metrics to refine strategies and improve content effectiveness
- Work with wider media and data team to prepare weekly/monthly performance reports with actionable insights
- Collaborate with wider media and data teams to optimise paid social when relevant
About You
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Detail-oriented with strong copywriting and content quality assurance skills in English, Chinese and Bahasa
- Creative thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Comfortable presenting ideas, strategies, and reports to clients or internal teams
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
Experience And Technical Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience managing social media for multiple brands or large-scale accounts
Hands-on experience in content planning, publishing, and analytics across major social media platforms publishing tools such as:
Facebook Business Suite / Meta Business Manager
- TikTok / Douyin
YouTube Studio
Understanding of content formats, algorithm trends, and audience behaviours for each platform.
- Familiarity with A/B testing principles to evaluate content variations and optimise performance outcomes based on date-driven results
- Experience collaborating with different teams across multiple disciplines
- Familiarity with social listening tools, analytics dashboards, and scheduling platforms (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, Buffer, Notion)
Additional Qualitites
- Experience working with influencers or KOLs
- Understanding of paid social and paid digital media fundamentals
- Basic skills in design, video editing, or motion graphics
- Good technical understanding and application of SEO, GEO and AEO
- Good technical understanding of social media platform algorithms
- Experience with content for Southeast Asia and China markets
- Interest in social impact causes
