The Opportunity

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the
plastics and consumer goods industry
, is seeking an experienced and dynamic
General Manager
to lead its
factory operations in Solo, Indonesia
.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the
overall management, strategic direction, and operational excellence
of the Indonesian manufacturing facility. The General Manager will oversee all key functions—including production, supply chain, quality, HR, finance, and administration—to ensure the factory achieves its objectives in
capacity, quality, efficiency, and profitability
.

The Talent

• Extensive experience in plastic product manufacturing, such as small home appliances, medical devices, consumer electronics or baby & child products.
• Strong background in production or engineering roles early in career progression.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Head of Production or Factory General Manager role, leading large-scale teams.
• Proven ability to manage full-spectrum factory operations, including budgeting, production planning, quality systems, and supply chain management.
• Demonstrated expertise in lean manufacturing, process optimization, and continuous improvement.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills, with the ability to bridge cross-cultural teams and foster a collaborative work environment.

The Job

Strategic and Operational Leadership

• Oversee the overall management and daily operations of the factory, ensuring all departments (HR, logistics, finance, production, supply chain, and quality) operate efficiently toward shared business goals.
• Develop medium- and long-term business plans aligned with group strategy, market trends, and customer demand, and lead their effective implementation.
• Translate group strategic objectives into annual operational targets and detailed departmental plans, ensuring alignment and execution across all teams.

Production and Process Optimisation

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives through scientific management approaches such as lean manufacturing, improving production quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
• Oversee and enhance manufacturing processes—including injection molding, oil spraying, pad printing, assembly, and packaging—to ensure high productivity and quality.
• Optimise plant layouts and workflows to maximise efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Financial and Capacity Management

• Formulate and manage factory budgets, covering manpower, operational costs, and asset performance.
• Monitor financial indicators and production metrics to balance capacity, cost, and profitability.
• Drive initiatives to increase production capacity and enhance profit margins while maintaining operational excellence.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Lead root-cause analysis and problem-solving for production or quality issues, ensuring rapid resolution and customer satisfaction.
• Promote a safe, compliant, and efficient working environment for all employees.

People and Culture Leadership

• Build and develop a high-performing, cohesive team, implementing management practices tailored to both local Indonesian and Chinese cultural contexts.
• Collaborate with Group and Factory HR teams to design talent development programs, KPI systems, and performance-based incentive structures.
• Foster a positive, engaged, and collaborative team culture, removing silos and promoting cross-departmental cooperation.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead regular operations meetings to review performance, resolve issues, and drive improvement initiatives.
• Maintain close communication with group headquarters, sister factories, and key customers, ensuring clear alignment and timely response to business needs.

• Undertake any additional duties necessary to support smooth factory operations and business development initiatives.
